We are asking incoming Kindergarten families to sign up for their Jumpstart visit and Kindergarten screening now. KSD would like to have all incoming Bulldogs screened prior to Kindergarten Round Up. Jump Start visits and screenings are being scheduled now. Sign Up Here.
What is a Kindergarten Jumpstart and screening visit, and why is it necessary for my child to take part?
The Kindergarten Jumpstart and screening visit is a short 13 question screening that tells us what your child already knows before entering kindergarten. This is an important tool for you, as a parent, to know what things you can work on over the summer to help set your child up for success in their first year of school. Our job as the parent educator is to give you ideas and tools to help with any areas of concern we find on the screening. It is important to know there is not a score your child must achieve in order to go to kindergarten.
We conduct the screening in your home or at the Early Education Building.
During the Kindergarten Jumpstart and screening visit we will walk through what the transition to school looks like and help ease concerns you may have as well as answer your questions.
Kindergarten Round Up
KSD’s Kindergarten Round Up will be held Thursday, April 16, 2019 at 6:30 PM at the elementary school your child will attend based on your home address. This event allows families with children who will be five years old on or before July 31, 2020 to enroll for Kindergarten and receive helpful information about the school district and beginning school. The child you are enrolling is welcome to attend as well. We look forward to meeting them!
