Golden Girls Garner Gold at Regional Comp

Kearney School District is proud to celebrate a strong performance by the Kearney High School Golden Girls dance squad.

The Golden Girls competed Saturday, Feb. 21, at the regional competition hosted at Lee’s Summit North High School, where they performed both their lyrical jazz and pom routines. The team earned 1st place in both routines in their division and also received an Outstanding Showmanship Award for their lyrical jazz performance.

Several Golden Girls also competed in the Lee’s Summit North solo competition in late January as part of the regional season. Congratulations to these students on their individual finishes:

Freshman Category

  • Angelina Gordon — 9th place
  • Jillian Jameson — 13th place
Sophomore Category
  • Peyton Williams — 4th place
Junior Category
  • Ainsley Daniels — 14th place
The Golden Girls will now advance to the state competition this Saturday, February 28, at Municipal Auditorium.
State performance times:
  • Lyrical: 3:30 p.m.
  • Pom: 6:12 p.m.
