KHS Girls Claim 2026 District Wrestling Title

The Kearney High School Girls Wrestling team had a busy (and very loud) Valentine’s weekend, and our Bulldogs spent it breaking hearts in the best possible way.
On Feb. 13–14, KHS hosted 38 teams for the Class 1 District 4 Girls Wrestling Tournament, and our girls put together a dominant team performance to win the Class 1-District 4 championship! They finished 40 points ahead of runner-up Mid-Buchanan and 126 points ahead of the third-place team.
All 13 wrestlers in our lineup battled their way into Day 2 and scored valuable team points, and the Bulldogs qualified eight athletes for the state tournament, including seven finalists and five district champions.
"Postseason tournaments are always a little bittersweet because you’re celebrating big moments while also saying goodbye to seasons that came up just short of the next step," Head Coach Nick Ward said. "The girls delivered outstanding efforts across the board."
