As we look ahead to 2026, Kearney School District is getting ready to launch a new community planning initiative. We will be forming a School Finance Process Action Team (PrAT) and are looking for qualified stakeholders to help guide this work.

The main goal of this team will be to ensure sound fiscal practices in alignment with the board-approved Strategic Plan, and to develop a multiyear plan to fund district priorities, including competitive staff compensation.

This team will follow the same kind of structured, transparent process that we used for the Elementary School Boundary Team in the 2024-2025 academic year. Members will review data, discuss options, gather feedback from the broader community and develop recommendations for Superintendent Emily Miller and the Board of Education.

We are seeking a mix of KSD employees, parents/guardians and community members. We are looking for participants who are willing to listen, learn, ask good questions and keep the district’s students at the center of the work.

The KSD School Finance PrAT will meet from February 2026 through May 2026 on Mondays between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. This proposed meeting schedule may be modified if necessary:

  • Feb. 9

  • Feb. 23

  • March 9

  • March 23

  • April 6 (as needed)

  • April 20 (as needed)
