The Kearney School District Board of Education held its regular business meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the central office. The evening included a singing school showcase and focused on financial stewardship, student supports and planning for the 2026–2027 school year. All recommendations were approved unanimously. Visit the KSD school board's Simbli site to view all agenda items and supporting documents. A livestream video of the meeting is available on KSD's YouTube channel.

School Showcase
This month's meeting started on the right note with a performance by Southview Elementary's Southview Singers choir. Led by vocal music teacher Rachel Terrill, the students sang beautiful a capella renditions of two holiday classics, "Sleigh Ride" and "Silent Night." The second song included a version performed with sign language. You can enjoy the talented Southview Singers during the Kearney Enrichment Council's 2025 Magical Night event on Saturday, Dec. 13, in downtown Kearney.

Teachers & Teammates

The Kearney High School Varsity Football team seniors took some time today, Nov. 14, to celebrate the teachers who have helped them achieve success over their years in Kearney School District.

The senior football players reflected on their time at KSD and wanted to honor their favorite faculty member with a "Thank A Teacher" ceremony as part of an all-school assembly in the lead-up to their home playoff match-up on Nov. 14 versus Savannah. Each player gave their favorite teacher a sweatshirt, complete with the player's name and number, as well as a certificate stating why they chose that person as their favorite educator.
