Erek Noland has been named the 2017-2018 assistant principal for Kearney Middle School (KMS). Noland is currently the assistant principal at Kearney High School (KHS). He has spent the past 10 years in either a teacher or administrator role for the Kearney School District.

“I am very excited for Erek to return to the middle school,” said Bart Woods, principal at Kearney Middle School. “Erek was a very respected staff member for five years at KMS before going to Kearney High School as an administrator. His administrative experience and background in working with middle school students will be a great asset to our school.”

Noland’s career spans over 19 years with a focus on secondary education. He started his teaching career in 1998 when he accepted a position at Odessa Middle School as a seventh grade social studies teacher. He served in administrative roles for six years at Odessa High School including athletic director and A+ Coordinator. He spent six years coaching for the Odessa Middle and High Schools in various athletics. In 2007, he started his career in Kearney as a sixth grade social studies teacher and also took on coaching positions for high school football and track. In 2012, Noland began his current role as the assistant principal for Kearney High School.

“I have enjoyed the past 5 years serving as an administrator at KHS and am thankful for the experience,” Noland stated. “I am excited for the opportunity to return to the middle school and help support the students and staff and all the wonderful things they are doing.”

Noland attended the University of Wyoming where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. He also holds a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Central Missouri as well as an Education Specialist in Administration degree from William Woods University.

He and his wife, Angela, have two children, Luke and Grant.

Noland will start his new role at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. He replaces Annette Shelton, who recently accepted the role of principal at Hawthorne Elementary.
