McBride Named Director of Early Childhood Programs

Marla McBride has been named the Director of Early Childhood for Kearney School District (KSD). McBride is currently KSD’s Parents As Teachers (PAT) supervisor. She has spent the past 14 years with the PAT program helping to provide families with knowledge and resources to learn more about early childhood development, learning and health.

“We are so fortunate to have a leader like Marla in the district,” said Dr. Angie Currey, assistant superintendent of special programs. “She brings with her many years of experience and will take the early childhood programs to the next level as we pursue accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Through Marla’s leadership the early childhood programs will become one in the new center.”

McBride’s passion for early childhood education is evident when looking at her career focus. She began her professional career in the field of human services. In 2003, she began her journey with KSD as a certified parent educator for PAT and was named program supervisor in 2013. Since that time, McBride has been a leader in helping to expand PAT throughout the KSD community and an outstanding resource for families.

“I am grateful I get to be part of the exciting development coming to this school district,” said McBride. “I am especially excited about the difference the new center will allow us to make for the young children in our community.”

McBride attended the University of Central Missouri where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Development. She is currently working to earn a National Director Credential for Early Childhood Administrators.

She and her husband Matt have three children, Colby, Cullen and Ridge.

McBride will start her new role at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.
