KHS Track & Field Qualify 26 Events for State Meet

Bulldog boys and girls both excel at sectionals

Kearney, Mo., May 23, 2022: The Bulldogs are continuing their winning pace toward the 2022 state track and field meet.

Kearney High School’s boys and girls squads both had an outstanding day during the Varsity MSHSAA Sectionals meet on Saturday, May 21 in Warrensburg. Competitors who finished in the top four for their events qualified to participate at the state meet May 27-28 in Jefferson City.

The girls continued their stellar track season by earning the highest team points total at sectionals. The squad qualified for state in 15 events.

“Our coaching staff is extremely proud of the girls and boys teams,” Coach Geoff Hutton said. “We are looking forward to this weekend’s state meet!”

The boys had top-four finishes in 11 events. That included a school record set by Luke Noland in the 110-meter hurdles.

“We are very proud of the hard work and determination that all of our qualifiers have put in to make it this far,” Coach Scott Crall said. “These guys are ready to go, and we are very excited to see them perform this weekend.”
