Elementary Summer School

Incoming Kindergarten-Grade 5:

• Dogwood & Kearney Elementary Students at Dogwood Elementary
• Hawthorne & Southview Students at Hawthorne Elementary
• LENS students will attend the site designated for their neighborhood elementary school

Transportation and Drop-off/Pick-Up

Bus transportation will be available this summer. Secondary students and elementary students will be riding the bus together. More information about bus routes, bus numbers, and pickup/drop-off times will be sent out at a later time. Summer school enrollment must be completed by May 12 in order to guarantee bus transportation during the first week of the program.

The parents/guardians of car riders will be able to drop students off at Dogwood and Hawthorne from 8 to 8:15 a.m. and pick them up at 2:45 p.m.

School Breakfast and Lunch

Instead, families are encouraged to complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application to determine if they qualify. Complete the application by visiting the food service section of our website. There is no need to apply for free or reduced-price school meals if your family has already completed the form for the current 2022-2023 academic year. Supplies

Students will need a backpack. Water fountains are turned back on but students still may bring water bottles.

Drivers Education

Incoming Grades 9-12

In-person instruction (Limited to 60 students)

Driver’s Education is a program that allows a new driver the opportunity to practice driving.  Students meet in person on May 31, June 8, June 15, and June 22  from 7:00AM-8:00AM.  Students sign up for driving times each week (2 hour sessions).  Students will be driving Monday through Friday. Most sessions will be 7:00AM-1:00PM (8:00AM-2:00PM on class days) with additional sessions 1:00PM-3:00PM as needed.  Students will drive in the car for 6 sessions - 12-hours total - with 6 driving hours and 6 riding hours. To enroll KSD students must be 15 years of age or older by May 31, 2023 and have a valid driver's permit. Spots are limited and student selection will be on a first come first serve basis. A link to sign up will be emailed to current students in grades 9-11 and their parents at 7 a.m. on Friday, April 14. Students not initially selected will be placed on a waiting list.
