KEARNEY CHEER FINISHES 2ND AT STATE COMPETITION
Congratulations to our Cheerleaders for finishing 2nd at their State competition in Cape Girardeau. The Varsity cheerleading team traveled to Cape Girardeau over the weekend to compete at the state competition. They came in ranked 3rd and hoped for a score of 92. The routine scored a 94.87 with 2.5 in deductions medaling Second place, missing 1st by less than a point. The team scored the highest of their session in Pyramids, Creativity, Tosses, Formations, and Jumps. Congratulations to the team and we believe this could be one of the highest accomplishments at state in school history.
You will notice that the Medical Eligibility Form is less invasive relative to a student’s actual medical information being collected and filed by the school. While the personal medical information of the student is still on the Physical Examination Form (page 3) which will still be used by a medical provider when completing a physical, the Medical Eligibility Form accounts for the student’s actual release to participate and still permits the physician to indicate how long the Medical Eligibility Form (physical) is valid, up to a maximum of 2 years. There was also an effort to organize these five pages into a Step-by-Step procedure that spells out to whom each page(s) of the PPE Forms are issued to, retained by or returned to. (Please note the “Steps” indicated at the top of each section of the forms). This “new” version of the MSHSAA Preparticipation Physical Evaluation Forms/Process, which now includes a Medical Eligibility Form (page 5) is now posted under the Sports Medicine tab at www.mshsaa.org, listed as a link under the MSHSAA Resources category.
