Whether you are a student, parent, grandparent, or community member it is important for you to know all of us working at KSD could not be more proud of our schools! From academics and performing arts to clubs and sports, our school district has gained a statewide reputation for providing the very best for students. It is this positive reputation that has, in part, given rise to a growing community.
Over the last several years, the district engaged staff, parents and the community to develop a strategic plan for our future with the goals of retaining exceptional teachers, small class sizes and great learning opportunities. This process led to the identification of facility improvements needed to stay ahead of the growth curve. In April 2017, voters approved a $27 million “no tax increase” bond issue to expand learning spaces at Kearney High School, Kearney Middle School and what will soon be Kearney Early Education Center.
The community’s affirmative vote this past April will guarantee a high-quality school system well into the future. Construction on these projects will begin in the fall of 2017, concluding by the winter of 2018.
With the future in mind, we want to celebrate the beginning of a new school year, and the wonderful opportunities it brings to the children in this district. We wish you and your family the very best and look forward to the great days ahead that remind us it’s great to be a Bulldog!
