On Tuesday, April 4, 2017, the Kearney School District (KSD) community voted to approve a $27 million bond issue. The bond was overwhelmingly approved with an 84% “Yes” vote. KSD wants to sincerely thank the district community for the outpouring of support shown throughout this process.
Since April, the district has been hard at work to further develop plans to move projects forward. This page is dedicated to sharing information about the development and progress made in each area.
Kearney Early Education Center
A presentation on final project designs will be provided to the school board on August 16. A request for bids for the construction of the project will be put out on August 22, and construction is expected to begin in October 2017.
The estimated construction completion date for the Early Education Center is Spring 2018.
It was our goal to install soft play material at our elementary school playground sites over the summer. Regretfully, because of the late timeline of the bond issue this plan has proven to be cost prohibitive. We apologize for this delay and plan to fulfill the promise of the new soft play material at each elementary school. Delaying the installation of the soft play material should allow the district to implement the project at a lower price. Project bids will be issued publicly in late fall, with construction work set for Spring 2018.
The estimated construction completion date for the middle school facilities improvements is August 2018.
JE Dunn is currently bidding the Kearney High School Parking package. This includes a new parking lot adjacent to the maintenance building and a second lot South of the tennis courts.
The scopes of work that are bidding include Earthwork, Asphalt, Site Utilities, Concrete, Electrical, and Seeding/Sod.
Bids are due to JE Dunn at 10am August 9, 2017.
Parking Construction is planned to start September 1, 2017 and be complete October 17, 2017
The estimated construction completion date for all of the high school is Winter 2018.
